Veronica explains: “Theresa said she has always carried this small Book in the folder of her garment. (She means her habit.) I can see now she is holding it very close to me. It is the Gospels. Now Theresa said: “I was not a learned person or a scholar upon earth, but all I had and all I needed was this little book. And I also treasured the Imitation of Christ.”
